Asker krematorium ble tegnet av Gudolf Blakstad og Herman Munthe-Kaas og tatt i bruk i 1960. Det står vis-à-vis Asker kirke, på den andre siden av parkeringsplassen.

Krematoriet er oppført i hvitslemmet tegl[1]. Fondveggen i seremonirommet er dekorert med en mosaikk av Harriet Backer (f. 1934).
I 1999–2000 ble det i tilknytning til krematoriebygget oppført et bårehus etter tegninger av Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk. Materialet er hvit teglstein, og bårehuset inneholder både oppbevaringsrom og visningsrom. Det er utsmykket med stålskulpturer av Per Inge Bjørlo. Bårehuset er tildelt arkitekturprisene Houens fonds diplom (2003) og Byggeskikkutvalgets hederspris (2000) og blitt nominert til andre.
Til tross for medieoppmerksomheten omkring arkitekturen er ikke krematoriet oppgradert til å oppfylle tidens strengere utslippskrav[2]. I stedet er krematoriedriften i Asker nedlagt, og man benytter i dag Haslum krematorium i Bærum[3]. Seremonirommet i Asker brukes imidlertid fortsatt.
