Banská Štiavnica (tysk: Schemnitz, ungarsk: Selmecbánya) er en by i det sentrale Slovakia. Den ligger i en enorm kaldera som oppstod etter at en gammel vulkan kollapset.

Byen hadde en befolkning på 10 409 innbyggere den 31. mai 2011[1] og har bevart sin middelalderske stil. Den ble i 1993 oppført på UNESCOs liste over verdens kulturarv.
Unesco fremholder i sin begrunnelse at byen Banská Štiavnica gjennom århundrene har vært besøkt av en rekke fremragende ingeniører og vitenskapsfolk som bidro til byens berømmelse. Gruvesenteret fra middelalderen utviklet seg til en by med renessanseslott, kirker fra 1500-tallet og elegante torg og palasser. Byens sentrum faller naturlig inn i det omkringliggende landskapet, og omegnen omfatter viktige kulturminner som fra fortidens gruvedrift og metallurgiske industri.
