Hundested er en havneby på Nordsjælland i Danmark. Den har 8 520 innbyggere (2023), og ligger i Halsnæs kommune i Region Hovedstaden.

Frem til kommunalreformen i 2007 var den administrasjonssenter i tidligere Hundested kommune.[2]
Stedet var kjent som ferjested for ferje til Grenaa fra 1934 til 1996, da ferjen ble innstilt på grunn av konkurransen med andre og mer attraktive forbindelseslinjer. Fremdeles går det ferje til Rørvig, den ble etablert i 1916, samme år som jernbanen kom til byen.
En lokal myte beretter at Hundested var opprinnelig et rev av stein som strakte seg ut fra Spjodsberg. Det var et yndet sted for jakt på sel, og flere danske konger, blant andre Christian 7., likte å jakte her. Men steinen ble etter hvert fjernet og brukt til å bygge flere av havnene på Øresundskysten, noe som førte til stor erosjon. Gamle sjøkart og andre historiske kilder motsier dette som en myte.[3].
Siden utviklet det seg bebyggelse her ute av aktive fiskere som søkte havn. Havnen ble utviklet etter hvert som større båter ble tatt i bruk.
Ved Hundested ligger flere kirker, deriblant Torup kirke og Lynæs kirke.
