Stokken er en tidligere selvstendig kommune i Aust-Agder fylke.
Fra 1837 var Stokken sammen med Barbu og Tromøy en del av Østre Moland formannskapsdistrikt. Barbu og Tromøy ble skilt ut som egne kommuner i 1878.
1. juli 1919 ble Stokken skilt ut fra Østre Moland som egen kommune. Stokken hadde da 1 683 innbyggere, og hadde eksistert som eget kirkesogn siden 1878.
Ved hvert av kommunestyrevalgene oppnådde Arbeiderpartiet mere enn 60% av stemmene, og kommunen fikk etterhvert status av landskjent utstillingsvindu for partiet. I 1951 kunne Stokken kommune skilte med:
1. januar 1962 ble Stokken, Austre Moland, Flosta og Strengereid krets i Tvedestrand slått sammen til en ny storkommune som fikk navnet Moland kommune. Stokken hadde på dette tidspunktet 2 783 innbyggere.
1. januar 1992 ble Moland, Hisøy, Tromøy og Øyestad kommuner slått sammen med Arendal til den nye Arendal kommune.
*Varaordfører Haugmoen rykket opp som ordfører for resten av valgperioden. Fløistad måtte fratre som ordfører etter at han var blitt utnevnt til lensmann.
