Las lengas chadicas son classificadas dempuèi Newman (1977) en quatre grops:
- lengas chadicas de l'oèst
- (A) haussà, lengas ron, lengas bole, lengas angas
- (B) lengas bade, lengas warji, lengas zaar
- lengas biu-mandara (chadic central)
- (A) bura, kamwe, bata
- (B) buduma, musgu
- (C) gidar
- lengas chadicas de l'èst
- (A) tumak, nancere, kera
- (B) dangaleat, mokilko, sokoro
- lengas masa
