The current banner o Iran (Persie: پرچم ایران) wis adoptit on 29 Julie 1980, an is a reflection o the chynges brocht aboot bi the Iranian Revolution. Its field is a tricolour comprisin equal horizontal baunds o green, white, an reid. The reid emblem in the centre o the banner, designed bi Hamid Nadimi, is a heichlie stylized composite o various Islamic elements: a geometrically seemmetric form o the wird Allah ("God") an owerlappin pairts o the phrase La ilaha illa Allah ("There is nae god but Allah"), formin a monogram in the form o a tulip. Written in white on the inner edges o the green an reid baunds is the repeatit phrase Allahu Akbar ("God is great") in a stylized version o the Kufic script uised for the Qur'an. This writin renders the banner non-reversible.

Pheesical requirements for the Iranian banner, the exact shape o the emblem, an a compass-an-straightedge construction are describit in the naitional Iranian staundart.[1].
