Basmanny Destrict (Roushie: райо́н Басма́нный) is a destrict o Central Admeenistrative Okrug o Moscow, Roushie. Population: 108,418 (2010 Census preliminary results);[1] 100,899 (2002 Census).[2]


The destrict extends northeast frae Kitai-gorod, athin the radial boondaries o Vorontsovo Pole Street an Yauza River in the sooth an Myasnitskaya Street an Novaya Basmannaya Street in the north. It includes the territory o Lefortovo Hospital on the opposite, soothren bank o Yauza (atween the river an Gospitalny Val Street) an aw. Historical Lefortovskaya Square lees athin Basmanny Destrict, on the northren side o Yauza.
The destrict contains Kursky Rail Terminal, historical auries o Khitrovka, Clean Ponds, Red Gates (shared wi Krasnoselsky Destrict), German Quairter an Basmannaya Sloboda. It retains memorial buildings o Petrine Baroque, Neoclassicism an Art Nouveau periods. Its history is closely associatit wi Peter the Great, Matvey Kazakov an Alexander Pushkin.
