Ceuta (Spaingie pronunciation: [ˈθeuta]) is a wee autonomous ceety o Spain. It is an exclave locatit on the north coast o North Africae surroondit bi Morocco. Total laund area of 18.5-square-kilometre (7.1 sq mi). Separatit frae the Iberie peninsulae bi the Strait o Gibraltar, Ceuta lees on the border o the Mediterranean Sea an the Atlantic Ocean. Efter Spain returned Ifni tae Morocco in 1969, Ceuta an Melilla remained the sole Spaingie enclave territories athin mainland Africae. Ceuta wis deemit a pairt o the province o Cádiz prior tae 14 Mairch 1995, when the ceety's Statute o Autonomy wis passed.
