Hedmark (help·info) is a coonty in Norawa, borderin Sør-Trøndelag, Oppland an Akershus. The coonty admeenistration is in Hamar.
Hedmark maks up the northeastren pairt o Østlandet, the sootheastren pairt o the kintra. It includes a lang pairt o the borderline wi the Swadish coonties o Dalarna an Värmland. The lairgest lakes are Femunden an Mjøsa. It includes pairts o Glomma an aw. Geographically, Hedmark is in the traditional sense dividit in the follaein auries: Hedemarken, east o Mjøsa, Østerdalen, north of Elverum, an Glåmdalen, south of Elverum. History

The name
The Norse form o the name wis Heiðmǫrk. The first element is heiðnir, the name o an auld Germanic tribe. The last element is mǫrk f 'firthland, borderland, march'. (See an aw Telemark an Finnmark.)
Till 1919 the coonty wis cried Hedemarkens amt.
