Vitovka Raion (Ukrainian: Вітовській район) is locatit in Mykolaiv Oblast o Ukraine. Its admeenistrative centre is the ceety o Mykolaiv, which is incorporatit separately as a ceety o oblast significance an daes no belang tae the raion. Population: 50,755 (2015 est.)[1]

History
In 1939, Mykolaiv Landwart Raion (whiles referred tae as Mykolaiv Raion) in Mykolaiv Oblast wis established wi the centre in the ceety o Mykolaiv.[2] On 12 September 1944, Mykolaiv Raion wis renamit Zhovtneve Raion, an the admeenistrative centre o the raion wis transferred frae Mykolaiv tae the toun o Zhovtneve.[3] On 27 Dizember 1973, Zhovtneve wis mergit intae the ceety o Mykolaiv, an tharefore Mykolaiv became the admeenistrative centre o the raion.[2] Mykolaiv Raion, which existit atween 1923 an 1930, an syne 1963, tho haes its admeenistrative centre in the ceety o Mykolaiv as well, wis an is locatit in a different aurie. On 19 Mey 2016, Zhovtneve Raion wis renamit Vitovka Raion conform tae the law prohibitin names o Communist oreegin.[4]
