They first started to build the stadium on January 17, 2017. The arena opened on September 6, 2019 and the first event was a concert by Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony.[1] The Warriors had their first preseason game in the arena on October 5, 2019. On January 28, 2016, JPMorgan Chase announced that they had purchased the naming rights for the arena for when it was completed in 2019.[3]
On October 17, 2021, a fan died and others were injured during a Phish concert at the arena. Fans said they were worried about the safety of the barriers.[4] The San Francisco Department of Building Inspection investigated but said that the building met the city codes.[5]
