Hymn to Liberty
National anthem of Greece and Cyprus / From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The "Hymn to Liberty" (Greek: Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Ἐλευθερίαν, romanized: Hymnos eis tin Eleutherian) has been the national anthem of Greece since 1865[1] and Cyprus since 1966.[2] It is based on a long poem written in 1823 by Dionysios Solomos. The words were later set to music by Nicolaos Mantzaros in 1865.[3][4][5][6]
