Jacques Mehler (1936 – 11 February 2020) was a Spanish-born French-American influential cognitive psychologist. His works focused in language acquisition.[1][2][3] He was born in Barcelona.
Mehler is Emeritus at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales. He worked at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste. He was editor in chief of the journal Cognition until 2007.
In 2001, Mehler was elected a foreign honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and in 2003, he was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
