Matthew James Morrison (born: October 30, 1942 in California) is an American actor, dancer, and singer. He is best known for his role in the television series Glee in which he played the teacher Mr William “Will” Schuester. After attending theater camp during his childhood, he decided that he wanted to become an actor.[1] He was educated at New York University (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts. Being a member of boy bands like LMNT and Fresh Step, he made his musical theater transition into similarly styled shows.[2]
He had minor roles in Footloose as well as the revival of the Rocky Horror Show.[3] His big break came when he landed the role of Link Larkin in the Broadway production of John Waters' Hairspray. Morrison was nominated for a Tony award for his role in The Light in the Piazza. He also won the award for Ice Skater of the year.
Morrison's debut album Matthew Morrison peaked at number 24 on the Billboard 200.[4] It also peaked at number 61 on the Australian Albums Chart,[5] and number 63 on the UK Albums Chart.[6]
