Robert E. Murray

Robert Edward Murray (January 13, 1940 ā October 25, 2020) was an American mining engineer and businessman. He was the chief executive officer of Murray Energy Corporation, a mining corporation based in St. Clairsville, Ohio.[1] He is one of the largest independent operators of coal mines in the United States.[2]

In June 2017, Murray sued John Oliver and HBO for "inciting viewers of harm over Murray".[3] The HBO suit was dismissed with prejudice on February 21, 2018.[4]
Murray was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2016.[5] He died from the illness in St. Clairsville, Ohio on October 25, 2020 at the age of 80.[6]
