Amber Rudd (born 1 August 1963) is a British Conservative Party politician[1] who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for the East Sussex constituency of Hastings and Rye from 2010 to 2019 and was Home Secretary between July 2016 and April 2018. Her appointment as Home Secretary made her the fifth woman to hold one of the Great Offices of State.
In 2018 Rudd resigned as Home Secretary following the Windrush scandal and was replaced by Sajid Javid.[2] She returned to government as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in November 2018.[3]
