Google Play, (also known as the Google Play Store, Play store, or sometimes the Android Store (and was formerly known as the Android Market)), is a platform by Google. It is a online store for music, books, movies and a few million Android applications. Google formed it in March 2012 by merging four different stores:
- Android Market, the oldest, was started in October 2008
- Google Music
- Google Books
- Google Movies.
Google Play also sold Google hardware devices, until 2015 when Google started a new Google Store for that.
