On February 2, 2025, the Lakers traded Davis along with Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Luka Dončić, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris. Jalen Hood-Schifino and a 2025 second-round pick were also traded to the Utah Jazz. The Jazz also received a 2025 second-round pick from the Mavericks.[1] It is considered to be one of the most unexpected trades in NBA history.[2]
