Bobbie Gentry (born Roberta Lee Streeter; July 27, 1942) is an American retired singer-songwriter. She was one of the first female artists in the United States to write and produce her own material.[3][4] Her song "Ode to Billie Joe",[5] spent four weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was third in the Billboard year-end chart of 1967.[6] She won three Grammy Awards in 1967.
