The butterfly (also known as to fly[1]) is a swimming stroke that focuses on movements to the chest, with both arms moving symmetrically with a butterfly kick (also known as the "dolphin kick") along with the movement of the hips and chest.[2][3] It is the newest swimming style swum in competition. I started in the early 1930s.[4]
