Carlo Maria Petrini (born 6 November 1965, Turin) is an Italian scientist and bioethicist.[1] He is Director of the Bioethics Unit at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) and Chair of the National Ethics Committee for clinical trials of public research bodies.[2] He also serves as President of the National Coordination Centre of Ethics Committees in Italy.[3]
Petrini graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Turin in 1988 and joined the ISS the following year. He became Director of the ISS Bioethics Unit in 2007 and has been a member of the National Bioethics Committee.[4]
He is the author of numerous scientific publications and several books, including Bioethics, Environment, Risk, which received the International Peccei Prize, and Bioetica nella sanità. His work addresses bioethical issues in research, clinical trials, and health care.[5]
