David C. Driskell (June 7, 1931[1] – April 1, 2020)[2] was an American artist and scholar. His works focused in the field of African-American art. Driskell was emeritus professor at the University of Maryland, College Park. He was born in Eatonton, Georgia. In 2000, Driskell was honored by President Bill Clinton as one of 12 recipients of the National Humanities Medal.[3]

The David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland, College Park was named after him.
Driskell died at a hospital in Hyattsville, Maryland on April 1, 2020 of COVID-19 at the age of 88.[4]
