David Ryall

David John Ryall^[1] (5 January 1935 – 25 December 2014) was an English character actor. He appeared on British television beginning in the 1970s. Ryall was born in Shoreham-by-Sea, Sussex, England.

He was known for his roles in Lytton's Diary and Goodnight Sweetheart, as well as memorable roles in Dennis Potter's The Singing Detective and Andrew Davies's adaptation of To Play the King and The Final Cut, the final two parts in the House of Cards trilogy. He also played Grandad in BBC sitcom Outnumbered.

In recent years, he played the role of Elphias Doge in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.

Ryall died in London, England, aged 79.^[2]
