Personality
Dixie is light-hearted, lively, and even a bit cheeky, but like Donkey Kong and Diddy, she is brave and has a strong sense of adventure, as she has proven herself to be a worthy ally on several occasions. She is particularly fond of sweets, such as chewing gum, and can be seen eating honey off the walls in the beehive levels of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
Dixie likes to play the electric guitar, which she does any time she completes a level in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

Physical appearance
Dixie wears a pink tank top with a knot in the middle, along with a matching pink beret. In one of her artworks, Dixie is seen wearing an orange ribbon under her pink beret. Dixie's most notable feature is her blonde hair, which is usually tied into a ponytail, and she uses it to glide through the air, an ability similarly used by Tiny Kong in Donkey Kong 64.
In original appearances, Dixie has varnished nails. From DK: King of Swing onward, Dixie has no visible nails and also wears turquoise earrings.
In the Donkey Kong Country animated series, Dixie has blond fur instead of brown. She also wears a green shirt with a flower on it (reminiscent of her younger sister Tiny Kong). Dixie's ponytail is also shorter than in other appearances.

Donkey Kong Country series
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Dixie joins Diddy on his quest to rescue Donkey Kong from Crocodile Isle. Dixie's unique ability is the Helicopter Spin, which allows her to glide through the air. Dixie and Diddy eventually arrive at The Flying Krock, where they battle Kaptain K. Rool. They eventually defeat him and free Donkey Kong. Later in the Lost World, Diddy and Dixie face Kaptain K. Rool again at Krocodile Kore. After the Kongs defeat Kaptain K. Rool, Crocodile Isle begins to sink underwater, and the Kongs evacuate the island. At the end, Dixie joins both Donkey Kong and Diddy as they watch Crocodile Isle sink underwater.
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
Dixie Kong has a major role in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! as the primary protagonist. In the game's backstory, Donkey Kong and Diddy went to explore the Northern Kremisphere, and since they did not return after a few days, Dixie goes to the northern Kremisphere to look for them. When she arrives at Funky's Rentals, she finds Funky Kong, who is babysitting Kiddy Kong, but Funky gives him to Dixie as a partner for her journey.
At some point, Dixie and Kiddy first encounter KAOS, the supposed new robotic leader of the Kremling Krew. They first fight KAOS at the end of the world Mekanos and then a second time even later at the end of Kaos Kore, along with its creator, Baron K. Roolenstein. The Kongs defeat both KAOS and K. Roolenstein and free Donkey Kong and Diddy, who were revealed to be inside KAOS.
At the end of Dixie and Kiddy's adventure, all the rescued Banana Birds carry them up into the clouds to the Banana Queen, whom they free by singing a song to. Dixie and Kiddy then ride the Banana Queen as she chases Baron K. Roolenstein, and the Banana Queen drops a large eggshell on K. Rool to stop him.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Dixie returns as a playable character in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port of the same name, along with Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Cranky Kong. At the beginning of the game, as the four Kongs appear to be celebrating Donkey Kong's birthday, a strong wind from a new enemy group, the Snowmads, blows them to a distant island.
In gameplay, Dixie can be freed from a "DX Barrel" to be paired with Donkey Kong during the journey. She can spin her ponytail to slow Donkey Kong's descent. Unlike her previous appearances, Dixie can briefly gain altitude by using the Helicopter Spin in the air, even while on Donkey Kong's back. She receives a unique underwater ability, the Ponytail Propeller, which gives her the ability to swim against strong currents. Dixie now uses her hands to carry an item instead of her ponytail. Dixie also has her own equivalent to the Hand Slap in which she slams her ponytail on the ground, left and right.
Super Smash Bros. series
Dixie Kong has made various cameo appearances within the Super Smash Bros. titles. She has a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee, both a sticker and a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and a trophy in both Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Dixie is also featured in the form of a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Although Dixie is not playable in any of the games, one of Diddy's palette swaps depicts him with colors based on Dixie's. She and Diddy would have worked together as a tag team in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, not unlike Banjo and Kazooie in the later title Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but she was ultimately removed.[1]
DK series
In DK: King of Swing, Dixie does not have a major role in the main adventure. She only appears with the other Kongs during both the opening and ending cutscenes. Dixie's main role within the game is being a playable character in Jungle Jam mode.
In DK: Jungle Climber, Dixie is similarly seen only during the opening and ending cutscenes in the main story. However, she is playable by the third player in the game's wireless multiplayer mode.
Donkey Kong Barrel Blast
In Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, Dixie is a playable racer.[2] She is one of the three characters who are playable from the start, alongside Donkey and Diddy. Her rival is a Kremling is Kass.
Mario Kart Tour
In Mario Kart Tour, Dixie is a regular top-tier driver. She has also received her own named cup since the 2022 Los Angeles Tour. Her special item is the Triple Bananas. Her emblem is based on the design of the Dixie Kong barrel in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
Dixie Kong is the only playable Kong in this game who does not return as a playable character in the Booster Course Pass of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
