Downloadable content, known informally as a DLC, refers to an additional and optional piece of content that is paired with existing video games which must be downloaded separately, often after the original release. DLCs can range from adding extra graphical settings, to entire areas and mechanics being included. DLCs are not to be confused with mods.[1]
