Eric Richard Cooper (December 18, 1966 – October 20, 2019) was an American professional baseball umpire. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa. His Major League Baseball (MLB) career spanned 1999 until his death in October 2019.[1] He wore umpire uniform number 56. Cooper officiated in ten Division Series, four League Championship Series, three Wild Card Games, one All-Star Game, and one World Series.[1]

Cooper died at his father's home in Iowa on October 20, 2019 from a blood clot caused by knee surgery at the age of 52.[2]
