Generation Beta (often known as Gen Beta) is the proposed name for the generation after Generation Alpha.[1] The name was created by futurist and demographer Mark McCrindle, who purposes that this generation is meant for people born between 2025 to 2039. However, researchers have not yet formed a general consensus as to the generation's birth years.
Generation Beta is named after the second letter of the Greek alphabet. The name has faced criticism from the media, with the term "Beta" being seen as an insult implying weakness and passiveness, leading some to suggest a different name be chosen for the generation.[2] McCrindle expects its members to mainly be the children of young Millennials and Generation Z.[3]
