Georgetown University

Georgetown University is a Catholic university in Washington, D.C. It was started in 1789 by the Jesuit priest John Carroll. It is the oldest Catholic university in the United States of America. In the 19th century, the university sold more than 300 slaves in order to pay for its expansion.^[7]
