The German Army (German: Heer, 'army') is the land part of the armed forces of Germany. The current German Army was founded in 1955. It was part of the newly formed West German Bundeswehr together with the Marine (German Navy) and the Luftwaffe (German Air Force). As of 2024[update], the German Army had 63,047 soldiers.[2]
