Sir Graham Stuart Brady MP (born 20 May 1967) is a British Conservative Party politician. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Altrincham and Sale West from 1997 to 2024. He served as a Shadow Minister for Europe under four Conservative leaders before resigning in 2007 in protest at David Cameron's opposition to grammar schools.
Brady replaced Michael Spicer as Chairman of the 1922 Committee on 26 May 2010.[1][2]
On 1 December 2010, Brady was voted "Backbencher of the Year" by The Spectator. He resigned as 1922 Committee Chairman on 24 May 2019 in order to launch a bid for Conservative Party leadership in the weeks that followed.[3]
Brady was knighted as part of the 2018 New Year Honours.[4]
In March 2023 he announced that he would not be standing again for election.[5]
