It has five main campuses.[1] They are at the Gold Coast, and four in Brisbane City (at Meadowbrook, Mount Gravatt, Nathan, and South Bank). Griffith began in 1971. It is now one of the largest universities in Queensland. The university has a satisfactory reputation. It is ranked by some people as one of the best universities in Queensland.[2]

Many famous people graduated from the university, including politician Amanda Bresnan[3] and Indigenous Australian politician Neville Bonner.[4] It competes with the University of Queensland and the Queensland University of Technology as the main university of Queensland.
