The Iowa General Assembly is the legislative branch of the state government of Iowa. The General Assembly is a bicameral body, made up of the upper house Iowa Senate and the lower Iowa House of Representatives.
The Senate has four year terms and the House has two year terms. The General Assembly meets in the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines since the capital was moved there in 1857.[1]
