Dame Jill Cooper (née Sallitt; 21 February 1937 – 5 October 2025) was an English author and journalist. She was best known for her Rutshire Chronicles series.
Jill Sallitt was born in Hornchurch, Essex, England, on 21 February 1937, to Mary Elaine (née Whincup) and Brigadier W. B. Sallitt, OBE.[1]
Cooper died on 5 October 2025 in Gloucestershire, England from problems caused by a fall, aged 88.[2][3]
