John Colter (born around 1770–1775 – died May 7, 1812 or November 22, 1813) was a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition from 1804 to 1806. Colter is known for being the first person who was not a Native American to visit the area that is now Yellowstone National Park. He was also the first to see the Teton Mountain Range.
