John Michael Landy (12 April 1930 – 24 February 2022) was an Australian middle-distance runner and politician. Landy was born in Melbourne. He was the second man to break the four-minute mile barrier in the mile run. He held the world records for the 1500 metre run and the mile race.[1][2] He also won a bronze medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Landy was also the 26th Governor of Victoria from 2001 to 2006.

Landy died on 24 February 2022 in Castlemaine, Australia from problems caused by Parkinson's disease at the age of 91.[3][4][5]
