Joktan

Joktan, according to the Bible, was the second son of Eber. Genesis 10:25 proves this: "Eber was the father of two sons. One son was named Peleg. He was given this name because the earth was divided during his life. The other son was named Joktan."^[1]

According to this map, Joktan populated East Asia. However, most people do not believe Joktan and his sons settled in East Asia.

In Genesis 10, Joktan had thirteen sons: Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal, Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab.^[2]

Arab traditions

Most Arabs believe Joktan and his sons were the ancestors of South Arabia. Joktan himself has been identified with the Qahtanites.
