Jujutsu developed from the warrior class around the 17th century in Japan. [2]

The systems of unarmed combat which were developed and practiced during the Muromachi period known as Lua error in Module:Nihongo at line 88: attempt to call field '_transl' (a nil value).. For example, a samurai might defend himself with jujutsu if he was without his swords.
