Karlheinz Hackl (16 May 1949 – 1 June 2014) was an Austrian actor, singer and theater director. His best known movie roles are Sophie's Choice (1982) and The Wall (2012).

Hackl was born in Vienna. In 1997, he married Austrian actress Maria Köstlinger.
Hackl died from a malignant brain tumor on 1 June 2014 in Vienna, aged 65.[1]
