Kata'ib Hezbollah (Arabic: كَتَائِبُ حِزْبِ اللَّهِ) is a radical Iraqi Shia paramilitary group. Kata'ib Hezbollah's allegiance is to the government of Iran. The group is controlled by the Quds Force, which is a branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is a branch of the Iranian Armed Forces.[1][2]

Kata'ib Hezbollah is officially listed as a terrorist organization by the governments of Japan,[3] United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

History

The group attacked the United States military and Iraqi military on 20 January 2024.[4] In retaliation for the attack, the United States launched airstrikes against the group four days later.[5]
