The Quds Force is a military unit in Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The purpose of this is to provide the country's law enforcement. It was founded by Qasem Soleimani, in 1988. Prior to becoming an independent military unit, the Quds Force was a special intelligence unit for the military organization Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.[1] The main goal of the Quds Force was to fight against the Iran-Iraq War.[1] It has also been stopping the Sunni militant group ISIS from invading Iran.

Since 2007, United States of America marked the Quds Force as a terrorist group.[2] Similiarly, Canada marked the Quds Force as a terrorist group too in 2012.[3] Egypt has also included Quds Force as a terrorist group.[4] Israel marked the Quds Force as a terrorist organization in March 2015.[5]

Qasim Soleimani was in charge of the group until he was killed by a U.S. drone strike at Baghdad International Airport on 3 January 2020.[6][7][8] Brigadier General Haydar Qaani was appointed as commander of the Quds Force on the same day.[9]
