Marian Adam Rejewski (Polish: [ˈmarjan rɛˈjɛfskʲi] (
listen); 16 August 1905 – 13 February 1980) was a Polish mathematician and cryptologist. In 1932, he helped create the Enigma cipher machine. His invention helped Britain to begin reading German Enigma-encrypted messages.
Rejewski died of a heart attack caused by heart disease on 13 February 1980 in Warsaw, Poland, aged 74.
