Micheál Martin (Irish: [ˈmʲiːçaːl̪ˠ];[2][3][4] born 16 August 1960[5]) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who is serving as Taoiseach since 2025. He held this office before from 2020 to 2022. He was the Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Minister for Defence from 2022 to 2025. He has been Leader of Fianna Fáil since January 2011. He was Leader of the Opposition in Ireland from 2011 to 2020, Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2008 to 2011 and Minister for Health and Children from 2000 to 2004. He has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for Cork South-Central since 1989.

He was Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2008 to 2011, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment from 2004 to 2008, Minister for Health and Children from 2000 to 2004, Minister for Education and Science from 1997 to 2000 and Lord Mayor of Cork from 1992 to 1993.[6][3]
