James Cipperly (born May 4, 1984) is an American professional wrestler. He currently wrestles for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) under the ring name Orange Cassidy. He is a member of The Conglomeration stable.

Cipperly has also made appearances in Chikara, Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), and Dragon Gate USA (DGUSA). In Chikara, Cipperly wrestled under a mask and used the ring name Fire Ant as part of The Colony stable.

Cipperly has held many championships over his career. In AEW, he has been a two-time and longest-reigning AEW International Champion and the co-winner of the Casino Tag Team Royale tournament with Danhausen in 2023. In Chikara, he was a one-time Campeonatos de Parejas, winner of the Young Lions Cup VI, winner of the King of Trios tournament in 2011 and 2018, and the co-winner of the Tag World Grand Prix with Soldier Ant in 2008.

Career

All Elite Wrestling

At Double or Nothing, Cassidy made his All Elite Wrestling (AEW) debut, competing in the Casino Battle Royal. The match was won by "Hangman" Adam Page.[1] On August 12, it was announced on the Being The Elite YouTube program that Cassidy had signed a contract to become a member of the AEW roster.[2] At All Out, Cassidy joined the Best Friends stable.[3] On the October 30 episode of Dynamite, Cassidy wrestled in his AEW in-ring debut. He teamed with his Best Friends stablemates Chuck Taylor and Trent to defeat the team of Q. T. Marshall, Alex Reynolds and John Silver.[4]

At Double or Nothing, Cassidy participated in the Casino Ladder Match but the match was won by Brian Cage.[5] On the May 27 episode of Dynamite, Cassidy took part in a battle royal to determine the number one contender for the AEW TNT Championship. The match was won by Jungle Boy.[6] On the September 23 episode of Dynamite, Cassidy challenged Mr.Brodie Lee for the AEW TNT Championship but lost.[7] On the October 14 episode of Dynamite, Cassidy once again challenged for the AEW TNT Championship but this time against Cody. The match ended in a time-limit draw.[8] A rematch was held on the next week's Dynamite where Cody won.[9] At Winter Is Coming, Cassidy and MJF both won a battle royal to become the two competitors for the AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring 2020.[10] On the December 9 episode of Dynamite, Cassidy lost to MJF in the finals for the Dynamite Diamond Ring.[11]

On the May 12, 2021 episode of Dynamite, Cassidy challenged Pac in a number one contenders match for the AEW World Championship but both were knocked out.[12] Since both were knocked out, both wrestlers were added to the match. At Double or Nothing, Cassidy fought Pac and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega but Omega retained.[13]

At Forbidden Door, Cassidy faced Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship but was unsuccessful.[14] At Grand Slam, Cassidy faced Pac for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship but lost.[15] Cassidy faced Pac in a rematch on the October 12 episode of Dynamite and was able to defeat him, winning the AEW International Championship. This was Cassidy's first championship in AEW.[16] During his reign, the championship was renamed to the AEW International Championship and he successfully defended the title against a multitude of other wrestlers. Cassidy ended up breaking the record for longest reign for the championship at 326 days.

At All Out, Cassidy was defeated by Jon Moxley and lost the AEW International Championship.[17] On the October 10 episode of Dynamite, Cassidy defeated Rey Fenix to regain the AEW International Championship.[18]

At AEW Revolution, Cassidy lost the championship to Roderick Strong.[19] On the April 3 episode of Dynamite, Cassidy and Baretta lost a semi-final match to The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) in the tournament to crown the new AEW World Tag Team Champions. After the match, Best Friends went for their signature ringpost hug but during it, Baretta hit Cassidy with a running knee strike and the stable broke up.[20]

Sometime afterwards, Cassidy joined The Conglomeration stable with Mark Briscoe and Kyle O'Reilly.
