Patrick Daniel Tillman Jr. (November 6, 1976 – April 22, 2004) was an American professional football player and military personnel. He played for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL) from 1998 until 2001. He left his sports career and enlisted in the United States Army Special Operations in May 2002 in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.
Tillman was killed on April 22, 2004 was shot and killed by members of his own unit at the age of 27.[1] Before his death, Tillman said that the invasion and occupation of Iraq was "fucking illegal".[2]
