People Power Revolution

The People Power Revolution was a historic event that happened in the Philippines from 22 to 25 February 1986. It is also known as the EDSA Revolution, the Philippine Revolution of 1986, and the Yellow Revolution. This case of nonviolent revolution led to the departure of President Ferdinand Marcos from presidency and the restoration of the country's democracy. It is also referred to as the Yellow Revolution because of the presence of yellow ribbons during the demonstrations following the assassination of Benigno Aquino, Jr..^[1][2] It was widely seen as a victory of the people against the 20-year running authoritarian, repressive^[3] regime of then president Ferdinand Marcos and made news headlines as "the revolution that surprised the world".^[4][5]
