Peter Denis Sutherland (25 April 1946 – 7 January 2018) was an Irish international businessman and former Attorney General of Ireland, associated with the Fine Gael party. He served as Attorney General from 1981 through 1982 and again from 1982 to 1984.
Sutherland was also European Commissioner responsible for Competition Policy (1985–89); Founding Director-General of The World Trade Organisation and former Chairman of Goldman Sachs International (1995–2015).
Sutherland died from an illness on 7 January 2018 in Dublin at the age of 71.[1]
