Roebuck "Pops" Staples (December 28, 1914 – December 19, 2000) was an American Gospel and R&B musician. He was the patriarch and member of singing group The Staple Singers.
In 1998 he received a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, which is the highest honor in the folk and traditional arts in the United States.[1]
Staples was buried in Oak Woods Cemetery in Greater Grand Crossing, Chicago.
