Quentin Crisp

Quentin Crisp (born Denis Charles Pratt, 25 December 1908 – 21 November 1999) was an English writer and actor.

Denis Charles Pratt was born in Sutton, Surrey. She was openly gay and was very camp. She changed her name to Quentin Crisp after leaving home to move to London when she was 21. She was a male prostitute for about six months. In 1942, she started doing life modelling for art students.^[1] She wrote about her life, including The Naked Civil Servant. In 1981 she moved to Manhattan.^[1] Crisp died of a heart attack in Manchester, where she was due to give a speech.^[1] Crisp said she was transgender in a book published after she died.^[2]
