Rolf Martin Zinkernagel AC, FAA (born January 6, 1944) is a Swiss immunologist at the University of Zurich.
He is best known for his discovery of how the immune system recognizes virus-infected cells.[2] For his discovery, Zinkernagel shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Peter C. Doherty in 1996.[1]
He was elected a member of the Academia Europaea in 1989.[3]
