James Scott McCallum (born May 2, 1950) is an American businessman and former politician. He was a member of the Republican Party. He was the 43rd Governor of Wisconsin between 2001 until 2003. He became governor after Tommy Thompson resigned in 2001 to accept appointment as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. McCallum was Thompson's Lieutenant Governor, a role he served from 1987 until 2001.[1][2] He lost his re-election bid in 2002 to Jim Doyle.
